Amber is a very sweet and caring little girl. She is our chatterbox and loves to talk about interesting facts and inform us in detail on how her day was. She is an absolute pleasure to be around as she is always joyful and happy. As a result of being exposed to unwanted substances as a fetus our little princess is very small for her age and growing is taking longer for her than usual.

Carter has a sweet, funny and honest personality. He loves everything car related and is a champion in playing sport. He is a bright little boy and loves to play outside, ride his bicycle and colour in. He lives in an informal settlement where there is no running water or electricity. At Amathemba Special Needs School he is able to take a bath and have two meals a day.

Dumiso is one of our youngest children at our Child and Youth Care Centre. As a result of his mental disability he functions at an age that is younger than he is. He is always in a world of his own. Dumiso is a real boy’s boy who loves to play rough and tough and is always found outside running around and playing on the jungle gym.

Ethan is a very loveable boy with a kind heart towards other children. He is still very little but so eager to learn in school. He loves Paw- Patrol, cars and playing with his older brother. He lives in an informal settlement with his family which has many daily struggles. At Amathemba Special Needs School we provide him with two meals a day, a bath and clothing.

Grace lived with her mother who was unable to care for her before she was placed with Home of Hope, as a result of her trauma she has developed emotional challenges. Despite her challenges, she is a big sister to Amber and is the best big sister anyone could ask for. She is very creative and loves to challenge herself by completing word searches and reading.

James is one of our newest family members. 2019 was a tough year for him as he was in and out of hospital. Despite this, he is a real fighter. He unfortunately had to lose one of his legs as a result of unforeseen circumstances. Despite his physical disability he is always jumping and running around. He is so strong and is always pushing his own physical limitations. He loves playing with cars and racing against his friends.

Kiara is currently the oldest child in our Child and Youth Care Centre. She is always helping where she can with her younger brothers and sisters ensuring that they are taken care of. She is an aspiring musician or singer and can spend at least an hour a day singing and dancing around the house.

Kyle is a real awesome and caring little boy. He loves to conquer the world in his own stories or through playing. He also loves to read books and comics about superheroes. He is always attending to the Child and Youth Care resident dog Teddy, ensuring that she is receiving lots of love from him.

Lwando is the big brother to everyone in our Child and Youth Care Centre. He has a big heart for animals, especially reptiles. He is very intrigued by the way they look and how they move. When he has the opportunity, you will always find him outside making tiny homes for any animal he can find. When he isn’t outside studying different species of animals he loves to read books and conduct science experiments. He is our young professor. He is always up and about and needs a little more assistance to help him concentrate and remain focused.

Molani is very quiet and extremely shy around people. She has a gentle and ladylike personality. She loves wearing pretty dresses and has a real passion for fashion. As a result of her disability she unfortunately has learning difficulties and cannot attend a mainstream school. She however attends Amathemba Special Needs School which was opened by Home of Hope to assist children who need a little more help than others.

Nadine is a strong, happy and loving young girl. She has a great sense of humour and loves to laugh at everything. She enjoys colouring in, sewing and helping others. She is eager to learn but requires assistance as a result of her disability. She lives with her grandmother who struggles to provide for her. With our help, she receives schooling, clothing and warm meals daily.

Naomi has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy since birth and has had two major operations over the past four years, however she is so strong and runs through her daily life just like the others. She is also always helping out around the house despite her disability. Naomi loves to write letters to people, draw beautiful pictures and dance around. She is such a happy and loving girl.

Philani has been with us since he was a baby and we have had the pleasure of watching him grow into the lovely young boy he is becoming. When he is shown a little love, he latches on and holds on because the fear of abandonment still traumatises him. Regardless, he is happy and has found his forever family with us. Philani is very eager to learn and loves to read and write stories. He has a real creative flare about him.

He attends Amathemba Special Needs School where he is provided with individual learning as he struggles to concentrate and requires assistance.

Sipho is a very special boy. Due to his disability he struggles to socialise and communicate with others. He loves to play with his toys and uses his imagination for so many activities. He watched the Good Dinosaur movie and fell in love with dinosaurs, especially the character called Arlo. If you ask Sipho what he would like as a gift, his answer is always an Arlo or dinosaur toy.

Thandiwe is a very shy girl, but when she gets to know you her true personality shines. She is such a strong, helpful and gentle girl who enjoys dancing and singing. Thandiwe has learning difficulties and attends Amathemba Special Needs School where we cater for her individual challenges making her feel like she is capable of achieving anything her heart desires.
